How we handle personal information, plus important information about the Greek Climate Crisis Resilience Fee.
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Stamos Hotel may collect, why we use it and how we protect it.
Collection of your personal information
We collect different information at different times. There are four broad categories:
- Information required to supply our services. When you make an enquiry, book or contract with us, we may request your name, address, telephone number, email, primary or secondary contact details and payment details. We may also ask for age and gender. Telephone conversations may occasionally be monitored or recorded for staff training and service improvement.
- Non-personally identifying information. Website statistics may record visitor numbers and IP addresses to improve technical performance and understand popular areas of the website. We may use session cookies. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, though this may reduce site functionality.
- Other demographic information. If you voluntarily answer surveys or interactive communications, we use responses to improve the quality and range of our products and services.
- Information stored through services we provide. Information submitted to organisations whose websites or services may be hosted on our systems is kept confidential and is not used or released by Stamos Hotel unless required by law.
How we use your information
We use personal information to operate our website and deliver services, including customer support, billing and credit control, sales support, upgrades and service information. Where you have consented, we may send promotional material. Every promotional email will explain how to opt out.
We may also use information to contact you about services, offers, newsletters, surveys and service audits; identify how new customers found us; monitor and resolve complaints or disputes; process payment; verify identity; maintain an account and technical history; monitor compliance with applicable terms; and meet reporting obligations to service suppliers and licensors.
We treat collected information as confidential. Stamos Hotel does not rent or lease customer lists. We do not disclose, sell, distribute, license or pass personal information to third parties without consent, except to contracted providers who help us supply services and are required to protect it.
When information may be disclosed
We may disclose personal information without notice where required by law or a valid legal process; to protect Stamos Hotel’s rights or property; to enforce an agreement; to providers of payment processing, customer management or licensed collection services that follow appropriate privacy and security standards; in connection with a sale of all or part of the business; or in an emergency to protect users, staff or the public.
Security
We use organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access. Access is limited to people who need it for their work. Internet transmission can never be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information sent to and from our services, including payment information.
Employees and contractors working with our information systems must respect confidentiality. We cannot accept responsibility for events caused by unauthorised access beyond our reasonable control.
Information you choose to publish in public chat sessions, message boards, email exchanges or newsgroups is public and is not covered by this privacy policy. Never reveal a password to another person. If a password may have been compromised, change it immediately.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may ask us to access or update personal information we hold about you. We may need to verify your identity before revealing or amending it.
Children’s privacy
Stamos Hotel does not knowingly collect, use or market personal information from children.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about our privacy procedures, contact our Privacy Officer at info@stamoshotel.gr. We will deal with it promptly and work to resolve it within a reasonable time.
Environmental Fee
Climate Crisis Resilience Fee
From 1 January 2024, hotels and other accommodation in Greece are required to collect a Climate Crisis Resilience Fee under Article 30 of Law 5073/2023. It replaced the previous Accommodation Tax.
The fee applies per room, per night. The amount varies according to the accommodation category and the period of stay. Accommodation providers collect it from guests and remit it to the Greek tax authorities.
When and how to pay
You will be asked to pay the fee directly at the hotel, separately from your accommodation booking. Payment can be made by cash or card.
Why the fee is charged
This is a government-imposed charge beyond the control of the hotel and accommodation suppliers. If the Greek government provides updated information, we will publish the relevant details on this page.
